AFRICANIS DOGS
From the mixing of the Latin terms, Africa and canis, africanis comes out, dogs that are a mixture of hounds or greyhounds with wild dogs from South Africa. For some people it’s a breed, and for others it’s the generic name for dogs in South Africa. Dogs that in 2007 caught Daniel Naudé’s attention. He is a 31 years old photographer from South Africa, when he just finished University. Then, he started the project “Animal Farm”, a journey through lands and farms in South Africa where he wanted to portrait the link between humans and animals. But after finding the eyes of an Africanis in the middle of the way, these dogs became the main characters of his project. An adventure that ended 5 years later becoming a book with 50 portraits of animal, in special africanis, some of them wild, and others are from farms. But all of them enjoy their freedom, a thing that a lot of hounds cannot say.
