Antonio Di Donato nació en Casanova, Italia. Creció viendo películas clásicas del oeste y "spaghetti westerns". Le gustaba leer las aventuras de Tex Willer, un héroe de historietas del oeste italiano muy popular. Jugar a indios y vaqueros le dejó una cicatriz en la rodilla por la flecha casera de un hermano menor y otra cicatriz en la frente por la lanza india del mismo hermano. Siempre le han gustado los caballos. Su sueño de niño era vivir con los indios y cabalgar con los vaqueros.
Se sintió atraído por el arte cuando era niño, dibujando cuadros al carboncillo en el patio de la casa de su abuelo. El talento de Antonio fue reconocido pronto. Estaba programado para ingresar a la Academia de Arte, pero su educación fue interrumpida por la muerte de su padre. Varios años después, Antonio se matriculó en el Instituto de Arte de Il Castello en Milán, Italia. También estudió y se formó con varios artistas de renombre en Italia y en los Estados Unidos.
El interés de Antonio por las culturas y la historia del oeste americano es uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos. Ha tratado de incorporar a su vida los ideales de respeto y admiración por la naturaleza, no avergonzarse del trabajo duro, que todas las cosas son de naturaleza espiritual, nunca rendirse; estar orgulloso de uno mismo, ser sencillo y directo.
En 1991 Antonio emigró a los Estados Unidos donde vive su sueño. No solo ha tenido la oportunidad de vivir con indios y cabalgar con vaqueros, sino que tiene el privilegio de llamar amigos a muchos de ellos.
Antonio Di Donato was born in Casanova, Italy. He grew up watching classic western movies and “spaghetti westerns”. He enjoyed reading the adventures of Tex Willer, a very popular Italian western comic book hero. Playing cowboys and Indians left him with a scar in his knee from a younger brother’s homemade arrow and another scar on his forehead from the same brother’s Indian spear. He has always loved horses. His boyhood dream was to live with Indians and ride with the cowboys.
He was attracted to art as a child, drawing charcoal pictures on the courtyard at his grandfather’s home. Antonio’s talent was recognized early. He was scheduled to enter the Art Academy, but his education was interrupted by the death of his father. Several years later, Antonio enrolled at the Institute of Art at Il Castello in Milan, Italy. He also studied and trained with several well-known artists in Italy and in the United States.
Antonio’s interest in the cultures and history of the American West is a favorite hobby. He has tried to incorporate into his life the ideals of respect and admiration for nature, not to be ashamed of hard work, that all things are spiritual in nature, to never give up; to be proud of one’s self, to be simple and direct.
